Welcome to MATEO

For more than four years MATEO has been publishing new research work and old source materials. It is a cooperative effort of members of Mannheim University that maintains four services:

MATEO/VERLAG publishes original research work and databases. For the most part these materials are freely accessible online. Others are microdisk (or also CD-ROM) publications for sale. If desired, we get your publication registered (ISBN) and listed in the German national bibliography and books in print. In the near future MATEO will open a market of academic theses.

MARABU (= Mannheimer Reihe Altes Buch), formerly called Editio Theodoro-Palatina, is an online series of rare books and manuscripts of the early modern period originating from old Mannheim libraries. It offers free access to portrait galleries, emblem and fable books, maps, writings of learned women, sources of the history of the Palatinate, and more ... Our facsimile color reproductions are each accompanied by an introduction and a table of contents.

CAMENA (= Corpus Automatum Manhemiense Electorum Neolatinitatis Auctorum) is a digitization project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. It will make available online the Latin poetry of 50 major German writers of the early-modern period. The corpus will consist of compound editions offering digital facsimile images of an early impression as well as transcriptions marked up according to the principles of the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI).

DISCOTHECA RARA offers CD-ROMs of rare books. Our high quality color scans stored in the original tiff format as well as in compressed form (jpeg, gif) give you a feeling of the original paper edition. In addition to all the titles published by MARABU and CAMENA we offer single outstanding items from the rare book collection of Mannheim University Library (series REPERTA).
